Raynell Muldrew-Golston, the man Keron and e who shot my daughter, is awaiting trial. He also wrote me a letter lying about his involvement. of change.
On August 23, 2021, my daughter, Randie Ann Smith, was lured through Facebook Marketplace and set up to be robbed.
The men involved were Keron Black, Latrell Muldrew-Golston, and Raynell Muldrew-Golston.
Keron Black created a fake profile and pretended to be a woman buying a PlayStation 4. That fake profile was used to contact Randie and arrange the meeting. She showed up for what she believed was a sale. They showed up with a plan.
During the robbery, it is believed that Raynell Muldrew-Golston shot my daughter.
After he shot her, she tried to drive away and crashed.
My daughter was killed, and my family is now experiencing how the system victimizes the victims.
There was intention. There was a series of decisions made before she ever arrived. Decisions to deceive. Decisions to meet under false pretenses. Decisions to bring harm into that moment.
Those decisions matter. They matter because they show pattern. They matter because they show mindset. They matter because they show the level of risk to the public.
One of the men involved, Latrell Muldrew-Golston, is free. and clear (time served).
Keron Black, the person who made the fake Facebook profile and lured my daughter to that meeting, is on house arrest awaiting trial- last I heard he is on work release.
Raynell Muldrew-Golston, the man Keron and the PA say shot my daughter, is awaiting trial. He also wrote me a letter .
The prosecution promises they will prove he is lying. That may be true. But I do not trust this process just because I am told to. Trust is earned by competence, honesty, consistency, and seriousness. I have not seen enough of that.
The social media tied to these young men showed a history of violent imagery, including flaunting assault weapons. This behavior should not be ignored.
A system that refuses to look at patterns will keep pretending incidents exist in isolation. They often do not. There are histories. There are signals. There are escalations. There are choices people make over time, and it ALL matters!
I have sat in court and felt like the family was being rushed through one of the worst realities a family can live. I have watched judges and courtroom culture treat my daughter’s life like one more matter to get through on an overcrowded docket. I have seen what it feels like when the tone in the room does not match the weight of what was done.
That is why Randie’s Light is not just about my daughter’s case. It speaks to a larger failure within a system that is overworked, underexamined, and too comfortable with routine—placing all of us at greater risk.
People are being moved through processes without the time, depth, or discipline needed to fully understand what has happened. That is a problem.
